DISCOVERIES DAILY / USING THIS SITE

Terms of use.

1. The service and its operator

Discoveries Daily brings together selected science and technology reporting, source passages, images and links to original publishers. These terms apply to use of this site. Its data practices are explained in the privacy policy, and its source and reuse rules in the publishing policy.

Operator: Discoveries Daily, operated by Leif Shires — Tennessee, United States
Public contact: yourjunkmailsucks@gmail.com.

The public beta may change or be unavailable while it is being developed. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the service. A future purchase will require its own clear checkout disclosures and affirmative agreement; visiting this preview does not start a subscription.

2. Source material and intellectual property

Articles, photographs, illustrations, research, names and marks belong to their respective rights holders. Credits, source links and applicable license or permission notices accompany reused material. A publisher's appearance does not imply endorsement of Discoveries Daily or Premium.

Third-party material remains subject to its own license and restrictions. These terms do not replace an open license, remove attribution requirements or grant rights that the operator does not hold. If you want to reuse a story or image, check its linked original, license and credit. Public access, a bookmark or a Premium subscription does not grant additional republication rights.

Original site design, branding and original editorial material remain the property of their respective owners. You may use the site and its controls for lawful reading and personal bookmarking. Rights expressly granted by applicable licenses and law remain unaffected.

For a correction, attribution problem or rights concern, follow the reporting guidance on the contact page. In your email, include the exact page or source URL and the specific issue so it can be reviewed.

3. Saved articles, advertising and Premium

The free preview allows up to five saved articles in the browser you use. Saves are not account-synced, a private document vault or a guaranteed permanent archive. They remain until you remove them or browser data is cleared or lost. Other people using your browser profile may be able to see them. Export and deletion controls are on the privacy page.

Stories appear in the current news feed for 96 hours (four days) from original publication. After that, eligible stories can appear in a separate “Earlier discoveries” section until they are 30 days old. Each section shows the newest stories first by default. Collection does not reset a story’s publication date. A saved link may remain after a story leaves both sections, but publisher pages, source permissions and displayed content can change or disappear.

Ad spaces are placeholders. Premium currently shows proposed prices of $0.99 USD per month or $9.99 USD per year for ad-free reading on this site and unlimited saves. Checkout, subscriber accounts and paid benefits are not active. Selecting a plan or trying the ad-free layout preview does not charge you, start recurring billing or increase your save limit.

Before paid plans launch, the checkout and updated terms must explain the actual benefits, billing frequency, renewal, cancellation method, applicable taxes, refunds and statutory rights. Premium would cover this site; linked publishers control their own advertising and access. Newsletter signup is not offered.

4. Responsible use

Do not attempt to bypass access controls, interfere with the service, submit malicious code, impersonate others, misuse personal information or infringe others' rights. Do not use automated requests in a way that disrupts the service or defeats publisher access restrictions. Lawful accessibility tools and ordinary browser features are welcome.

The site may restrict abusive access where necessary to protect readers, rights holders or service operation. No public inquiry form, file upload or comment service is currently enabled. Do not attempt to send passwords, payment details, identification documents or sensitive personal information through unavailable features.

5. Reporting limits and your legal rights

Source checks establish provenance and a documented reuse basis under the publishing rules. They are not independent scientific replication, a guarantee of accuracy, an endorsement or professional advice. Research may be preliminary, disputed, corrected or withdrawn. Read the original source and seek qualified advice for decisions about health, finances, safety or legal matters.

We aim to keep the service accurate and available but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free content, continued access to a publisher's page or preservation of browser saves. External websites have their own terms, privacy practices and security.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the preview is provided as available without additional warranties, and the operator is not responsible for losses caused by third-party websites or loss of locally stored bookmarks. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer, accessibility, privacy or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Mandatory law applicable to you continues to apply.

No arbitration requirement, class-action waiver or exclusive court location is imposed by this draft. Any jurisdiction-specific provisions remain subject to review.

6. Contact and changes

Email yourjunkmailsucks@gmail.com during beta testing. See contact and reporting information for what to include. Email links open your email app; the site has no message-submission form.

The date above identifies this draft. Material changes to an active service will be explained through updated notices and additional agreement or choices where required. New terms will not silently authorize a purchase or optional tracking.
